Pastor Rayshaun Williams, Associate Pastor
I remember as a child telling my mother, “When I grow up I am going to be a preacher.” It was a weird statement because we weren’t attending any church. Some years pass and I was told that since Jesus went to church when He was twelve, I would follow the same example. This would lead to many of my family members deciding to go back to church and renew their relationship with God.
Being brought up in a home with a slue of different challenges prepared me for a life of service. However, the enemy had a different plan for me. I had not yet understood that the devil walks around as a lion seeking whom he may devour.
I faced many more challenges during my time spent in the United States Marine Corps. I deployed with 1st Marine Division in support of OIF in February 2003. Being apart of the first initial push into Iraq was an experience that can never forget and has played an intricate role in the man I am today.
I told God that I was going to one-day work for Him if He delivered me from the realities of war. He did and soon will call me to the ministry. Like Jonah, I ran from the call but eventually submitted.
1 Timothy 1:12-13 says, “ . . . I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.”
God does have a plan (Jeremiah 29: 11) for each and every one of us. However, many of us our prodigal and sometimes fail to realize the loving character of our Father. Like myself, with open arms, Christ welcomes us home!
Friend no matter your what has happen in your pass, Christ can change you to be one of His very own. Change is an over statement of who I am today. I am married to beautiful young and godly woman named Jael Williams, who I plan to meet Jesus with when He comes.
Our ministry here at Chapel Oaks and Lawrence I know will be an amazing one, because I believe and know it is where God wants me!
