Pastor Mike Fenton, Senior Pastor

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

God's promises are just as valid today as they were when these words were written to the Israelites held captive in Babylon. He has mapped out a journey for each of us, if we choose to take it. It was God's providence that brought Mike Fenton to the ministry and to his current position of pastor of Chapel Oaks Seventh-day Adventist church.

The Journey Begins

Ordinary steps along life's journey are truly extraordinary when God plans the journey. Since giving his life to Jesus as a high school student, Mike Fenton has been living out the journey that God prepared for him.

While working as a Christian literature salesman he met Sherl, who would become his wife and ministry partner. As their family expanded to include three sons and a daughter, Mike used his God-given talents in the construction industry while continuing to minister through giving Bible studies, seminars, and visitation as an Elder in his local church. Throughout this time, God kept nudging Mike to become a full-time minister through the encouraging words of friends, parishioners, and mentors.

God's Providence

Seeking a job that would provide more flexibility for his family and time for additional ministry, Mike entered nursing school. It was during a clinical rotation that Mike understood God's plan for full time ministry loud and clear. As he calmed the fears of one patient and prayed with another, Mike understood that God's plan for him was full-time ministry not nursing.

Many prayers were answered when a church district in Missouri asked for Mike Fenton to become their pastor.

Pastor Mike and His Family

In the spring of 2006, Pastor Mike Fenton and his family began to minister to the Chapel Oaks church and community. Since the family commitments have eased as the children have grown, Sherl went back to school and is now a physical therapy assistant. Their oldest son, Shane, is a Registered Nurse at Florida Hospital in Orlando Florida. Grant is a salesman for a marketing group. Brett is Married to Kristen and they are expecting their first child in 2013. Breanna, is preparing to return to Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska to become a Physicians Assistant.

As for Pastor Mike, he describes himself this way:"I believe with my whole heart that the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation with the gospel of Christ at the very center is the message God's people should be sharing in every possible way."

"My passion in ministry is to inspire people to identify the journey God has planned for them."
